Schedule: 30 hours/week, Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 6pm, occasional evenings until 8pm.

Free Geek Twin Cities is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting digital inclusion and environmental sustainability by reusing and recycling technology. We provide a variety of programs and services aimed at reducing e-waste, supporting community education, and fostering responsible technology use.
Job Summary:
The Recreational Technology (Rec Tech) Lead is responsible for testing, refurbishing, and restoring vintage and modern recreational technology including, but not limited to, gaming consoles, digital cameras, video recorders and monitors.
Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership:
- Supervise and support testing, refurbishing, and restoring of vintage and modern gaming consoles, games, gaming accessories, digital cameras and digital video recorders and testing monitors
- Provide training and guidance to volunteers on best practices for handling and refurbishing of vintage and modern gaming consoles, games, gaming accessories, digital cameras and digital video recorders and monitors.
- Ensure that all refurbishing activities adhere to safety standards and organizational protocols.
- Ensure that donations of flat screen TVs and computer monitors are efficiently processed, thoroughly tested and decisions made for final disposition..
- Ensure that donations of digital cameras and digital video cameras are efficiently processed, thoroughly tested and decisions made to price for sale in the Thrift Store or recycled.
Project Management:
- Coordinate the workflow and prioritization of refurbishment or repair of gaming consoles, games, gaming accessories, digital cameras, digital video recorders, and monitors.
- Maintain an inventory of parts and tools needed for refurbishment and repair of vintage and modern gaming consoles, games, gaming accessories, digital cameras, digital video recorders, and monitors.
- Develop learning guides or knowledge base guides to support onboarding and training of volunteers.
- Develop and maintain pricing matrix to support consistent pricing of systems for the Thrift Store.
- Maintain a clean, organized and accessible workspace.
Additional Duties:
- Carry out duties related to specific grant assignments, which will be defined and may be adjusted based on the unique requirements of each new grant, partnership, and organizational objective.
- Support community outreach efforts and events as needed.
- Supporting shared staff responsibilities such as answering phone calls and assisting in the upkeep, organization and cleanliness of the FGTC workspace.
- Supporting fellow staff when additional support is needed such as covering intake or store.
- Other duties as assigned.
