Job Summary:

The E-Commerce Specialist oversees all aspects of the Free Geek Twin Cities e-commerce business, driving sales by managing FGTC’s own online retail space and various other e-commerce platforms, customer experience, inventory, and order fulfillment, ensuring smooth e-commerce operations. This works collaboratively with colleagues to support decisions of inventory and pricing. The E-Commerce Specialist will also support thrift store operations including working on the selling floor and maintaining organization of the backroom, and answer phone inquiries, when needed, and maintain the organization and cleanliness of their workspaces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • E-Commerce Strategy & Platform Management: Develop and manage daily operations across all platforms (e.g., eBay, FGTC's web store), focusing on UX optimization to maximize conversion rates and revenue. Own the entire digital sales funnel.
  • Inventory Curation & Pricing Strategy: Collaborate with the team to identify, evaluate, and competitively price items based on condition, value, and real-time market demand analysis, ensuring maximum profitability.
  • Visual Merchandising & Listings: Produce professional, high-quality product photography and write compelling, detailed listings that minimize returns and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Fulfillment & Logistics Management: Efficiently manage inventory flow, oversee all order processing, packaging, and shipping logistics to meet delivery deadlines and maintain high seller ratings.
  • Customer Success & Retention: Serve as the primary point of contact for all customer inquiries, resolving issues quickly and professionally to ensure a 5-star shopping experience and foster repeat business.
  • Performance Analysis & Reporting: Utilize website and platform analytics to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and generate actionable insights for pricing, inventory, and marketing adjustments.

Additional Duties:

  • Support shared staff responsibilities such as answering phone calls and assisting and maintaining in the upkeep, organization and cleanliness of the FGTC backroom/inventory storage space.
  • Support fellow staff when additional support is needed such as covering the store sales floor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience managing or substantially contributing to a live e-commerce retail operation (preferably in technology/electronics).
  • Technical Proficiency: Expert proficiency with major e-commerce platforms (e.g., eBay, Shopify, etc.), payment gateways, shipping software, and inventory management systems (SaaS).
  • Exceptional Problem-Solver: A resourceful and independent thinker capable of quickly troubleshooting operational, technical, or customer issues.
  • Market Awareness: Strong understanding of current e-commerce trends, best practices, and pricing fluctuations within the secondary electronics market.
  • Collaborative & Customer-Focused Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective customer service and collaborative decision-making with internal staff (e.g., on inventory and pricing).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in the electronics, secondary electronics or refurbished goods market.
  • Basic HTML/CSS knowledge for optimizing web store listings.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems (SaaS).
  • Thrift store or online sales experience.
  • Must be able to walk/stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
