Job Summary

This position exists to lead the Resource Management and Assistance Division activities of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency in support of the strategic objectives of the agency.  The position also helps provide overall agency direction and leadership through participation on the Commissioner’s Senior Management Team, and serves as an Executive Champion on at least one key cross-agency management team.  The position directs management and oversight, in conjunction with the Commissioner, Deputy, and Assistant Commissioners, of all the programs within the scope of the Resource Management and Assistance Division. 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Five years of supervisory experience in an environmental program that demonstrates an understanding of the principals and practices of environmental protection sufficient to assess factors which impact the quality of the environment.

OR

Three years of managerial experience with oversight for the operations and/or implementation of environmental programs.

Experience should include:

  • A broad understanding of federal and state laws, rules and regulations relating to environmental protection and administrative activities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, negotiation and presentation skills, and proven ability to simplify and communicate complex issues for varied audiences

Demonstrated ability to:

  • Apply scientific principles to the implementation or operation of environmental programs.
  • Manage human and fiscal resources.
  • Develop and implement public policy.
  • Direct and support change efforts for continuous improvement.

Possess a valid Driver’s license (see additional requirements).
